Community FirstApril is Community Banking Month, and the mortgage lending team at the Westfield branch of Community First Bank of Indiana exemplifies the important role community banks have in fostering healthy local economies. Janelle Campbell, Residential Mortgage Sales Manager, and Korbin Cruea, Mortgage Loan Officer, not only live in the area they serve, but they are also involved in activities and organizations that seek to enhance the quality of life for residents. As mortgage lenders at Community First Bank of Indiana, which may be similar to Mortgage Broker Lurgan, they offer flexibility and guidance to their customers in ways that large institutions cannot.

It is not widely realized how important community banks are to the financial well-being of municipalities. Local deposits are taken in and then redistributed back into the community, as community banks handle more than 60% of small-business loans according to Lainey Schroer, Marketing/Communications Manager for Community First. Community banks also contribute tax dollars that keep town centers and local neighborhoods viable and vibrant. Traditionally, community banks have a history of giving back to local nonprofit organizations, and these bankers spend time serving on local nonprofit boards as well as devoting many hours volunteering.

Campbell is a great example of someone who enjoys being invested in our local community. A 2017 graduate of the Hamilton County Leadership Academy, she is also the current chairwoman of the Westfield Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Additionally, she is a founding board member of Women of Westfield (WOW), past president of the Westfield Youth Assistance Program Board of Directors, and events chair for the Westfield Mayor’s Yellow Tie Gala.

Cruea is the newest member of the Hamilton County mortgage team. After serving the Howard County market with Community First for a couple years, Cruea is excited to move his home office to Hamilton County to serve the community in which he lives. He is involved in officiating high school basketball all over the state of Indiana, and loves giving back to local athletes.

Customers of Community First appreciate the ability to communicate with their bankers directly. Campbell and Cruea are present throughout the entire process. They seek to be genuinely helpful advisors with whatever questions or concerns may arise.

“We want to establish a relationship with our clients so that they feel comfortable asking all of their questions,” Campbell says. “I want my clients to fully understand what they are doing, and the process.”
